Designed in the 1960s, Henning Korch’s serving cart for C.F. Christensen A/S Møbelfabrik showcases Danish craftsmanship with a refined balance between functionality and aesthetics. A piece that effortlessly integrates into various interiors, its form follows the principles of Scandinavian design: clean lines, practical use, and an emphasis on high-quality materials. This cart was designed with adaptability in mind, making it as practical today as it was when first introduced.

Design

Constructed from richly grained rosewood, the cart consists of three shelves, each with a distinct purpose. The top shelf, framed by raised edges, serves as a primary surface for serving. Below, a smaller middle shelf is finished in black formica, contrasting beautifully with the wood while adding durability. The lower shelf provides additional storage, with a dedicated open space for liquor bottles. Sculpted edges and seamless joinery highlight the expertise of the cabinetmaker, while the elegantly curved supports give the piece a light yet sturdy presence. Rolling caster wheels ensure easy mobility, allowing it to function effortlessly in different settings.

A fine example of mid-century Danish design, the piece is both practical and visually striking. The detailed craftsmanship and thoughtful layout reflect the era’s commitment to well-made, utilitarian furniture.

Condition

The serving cart is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear. The original manufacturer’s label remains intact, underscoring its authenticity and provenance.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
