Italian designer ’Nerone’, whose real name was Giovanni Ceccarelli, is probably most famous of his designs as part of the duo Nerone e Patuzzi. This rare coffee table, model “Cariatide 2”, was created by himself in the 1970s for the “Design d’autore” collection by Edizioni Riccardo Nuzzi. It reflects his sculptural vocabulary through both form and process.
Design
The table consists of three freestanding elements in charred and patinated wood. Each base has been shaped with a rhythmic sequence of vertical cuts, forming a curved profile that suggests movement and structure. The darkened surfaces highlight the raw texture of the material, while the sinuous angles introduce a sense of balance and direction. The elements have received their patina through a process involving fire. The circular glass top rests atop the three elements without fixings, held in place by weight and alignment. From different angles, the bases shift in perspective, offering a dynamic visual effect that changes with light and position. The table was originally part of the Ceccarelli private collection and stands as an individual work of design and sculpture.
One could also use the three elements to create three separate tables for example.
This edition captures the experimental energy of Italian design in the 1970s. The contrast between clear glass and sculpted wood results in a strong visual identity.
Condition
The piece is in very good condition. Minor wear is visible on the base elements, consistent with age, and the glass shows light surface marks. The glass can be replaced or reshaped on request.

Table arrived very well crated, seller made process seamless.
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
I just received the absolutely gorgeous credenza yesterday. It was professionally packaged and delivered just as promised. I cannot more highly recommend AtKris Studio.
