In 1971, Gio Ponti commissioned Federica Marangoni to create a lighting installation for the Euroluce exhibition in Turin. The resulting artwork, an impressive piece standing two meters tall with a diameter of one meter forty, featured a central cylinder housing three fluorescent tubes. Surrounding these tubes were five cone-shaped plexiglass components, all encircled by a black ring. The "Bricola" table lamp is a smaller version of this installation and was originally produced in a limited edition of fifty pieces for Centro Domus in Milan.

One of these lamps is part of the collection at the Design Museum della Triennale di Milano. From 1980 onwards, ITRE, a lighting company based in Salzano, took over the manufacturing of the "Bricola."

Design

The design exudes simple elegance. It features a black round polyester top with raised edges serving as the base, supporting five conical Murano hollow glass rods. These rods lean against the fixture, held together by a black metal ring. The unique white decoration within the glass, known as variegato, is a special Murano technique.

Condition

This piece is stunning both when illuminated and when off, and it remains in excellent condition without any noticeable flaws. It has the original ITRE label still on it.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
