Carlo Nason’s designs for AV Mazzega masterfully combine Murano glass artistry with functionality. This set of three wall appliques, crafted in Italy during the 1970s, features one larger model, LP 245, and two smaller models, LP 244.

Design

The glass elements showcase a dynamic, fluid shape, achieved through a combination of clear and white Murano glass. A layered technique results in an interplay of light and opacity, with curved inner sections diffusing the glow, creating an ambient effect. The glass has a so-called lattimo effect, enhancing its milky, semi-translucent quality and adding depth to the design. The structured metal fixtures hold the glass firmly while maintaining a minimalist appearance. The light fixture is an E27, ensuring compatibility with standard bulbs. These lamps can also be used as ceiling lamps, offering versatility in placement. When illuminated, these appliques produce a warm, inviting atmosphere, enhancing their organic form. Whether placed individually or as a set, they bring a sculptural element to any space.

Carlo Nason’s lighting designs remain highly sought after for their innovative use of Murano glass. These appliques are not only functional light sources but also striking decorative pieces, ideal for mid-century and contemporary interiors.

Condition

The set remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use. The glass surfaces are well-preserved, with slight patina on the metal elements adding to their character.
