This round coffee table, designed by Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen in the 1960s, is a striking example of mid-century German design. Known for his mastery in creating mosaic art, Müller-Oerlinghausen combined artistic craftsmanship with functionality, offering a piece that captures both form and elegance. The table's circular top is its focal point, composed of a mosaic of delicate white and neutral tones. The intricate stonework, with evenly spaced patterns, adds a subtle depth to the surface. The mosaic is bordered by a smooth brass rim, which gives the piece a refined edge. Supporting this, the brass legs are slender and minimalist, yet they retain a certain sturdiness, enhanced by subtle diagonal braces. The clean design, paired with the warm brass finish, reflects the streamlined aesthetic typical of 1960s German modernism.
In conclusion, this coffee table is not just a functional piece but also a work of art that embodies the era's commitment to quality and timeless design.
Whether placed in a modern or classic setting, its understated presence makes it an elegant addition to any living space, showing the enduring appeal of Müller-Oerlinghausen’s vision.
Condition
The overall condition is very good with only small signs of wear that are coherent with age and use.
I recently bought some amazing Artwork from AtKris Studio online. The whole experience was amazing. The transaction was amazingly efficient. The crating and shipping of the artwork to the United States from the Netherlands could not have gone smoother and the customer service was spot on!! Krista was amazing and I highly recommend AtKris Studio!
Table arrived very well crated, seller made process seamless.
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
