Giovanni Offredi's "Tegolo" is a remarkable blend of form and function, created in 1970 for MC Selvini. Known for pushing boundaries in design, Offredi brought innovation to daily objects, making them both practical and visually striking.
Design
Crafted from plywood, the design features a series of curved wooden panels that interlock, forming a flexible structure. Each panel’s wavy, undulating top creates an organic silhouette that contrasts with the industrial precision of the assembly. The plywood's natural grain is clearly visible, lending a sense of warmth to the piece. Fastened together by black rubber connectors, the panels can be configured to suit any space, providing both structure and fluidity. Its simplicity hides a complex understanding of material and balance. This piece transcends its role as mere furniture. It serves as a sculptural element in any room while offering versatile functionality. Offredi’s work with MC Selvini demonstrates how everyday objects can be elevated through intelligent design, and Tegolo exemplifies that blend of utility and art. Made from plywood, reflecting Offredi’s forward-thinking approach to modular design.
Condition
The condition is good with only minor signs of wear. Slight discoloration is part of that although we think the lived-in look is a lovely feature that only comes with passing of the years.
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
Excellent responsiveness, and with wonderful curatorial chops!
Quality, flexibility, very good communication, very happy with the coffee table I bought.
