The Rhino lamp by Christian Dufay for Abode stands as a striking exploration of form and material. This sculptural piece captures attention with its fluid curves and structural balance, offering an interplay between light and shadow that transforms any space.

Design

Drawing from both mid-century and contemporary influences, the lamp merges organic inspiration with minimalist design. Dufay’s creation recalls the ethereal quality of Isamu Noguchi’s lanterns while nodding to the structured elegance of Bruno Munari’s 1960s fabric and metal designs. The lamp is constructed using elasticized fabric stretched across a delicate wire metal frame, giving it a soft yet structured appearance. This combination results in a glowing, sculptural piece that adds a dynamic presence to interiors. Awarded "Best Lighting Design" at the 1994 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), the "Rhino" lamp comes in eight color options, providing versatility and character to match different moods and settings.

More than just a lighting fixture, the "Rhino" lamp functions as an artistic statement. Its expressive silhouette and tactile materials invite closer inspection, while the soft diffusion of light enhances the surrounding environment.

Condition

The color of the fabric is slightly faded and shows minor discolorations.

"

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
