A bold example of postmodern craftsmanship, this 1990s table and chair set challenges convention while celebrating form and material. Both sculptural and functional, the duo brings movement into the room through rhythm and contrast.

Design

The design alternates between two types of wood—one dark (padouk), one light (maple)—creating a clear visual rhythm. Strips of each are arranged in a precise pattern that flows from tabletop to chair backrest, extending through the legs in perfect alignment. The rounded edges and vertical rhythm of the chair mimic the undulating form of the table’s top. This continuity ties both pieces together. Structural logic is expressed through a visible joint system, yet the overall effect is seamless. From certain angles, the chair almost disappears into the table, merging into a single visual unit. Despite the strong graphic presence, proportions remain compact, allowing the set to hold space without overwhelming it.

An expressive and well-balanced ensemble. The material contrast, repetition, and curvature lend this set a distinctly architectural presence.

Condition

In very good condition. Minor signs of age are present but do not distract from the overall quality and craftsmanship. The wood finish remains rich and the construction is solid.
