This armchair designed by Jac. Levee in 1935 is a beautiful piece of furniture design that embodies the essence of the Amsterdam School style. This style, which emerged in the early 20th century, is characterized by a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modernist design principles.
Design
Crafted from high-quality beech wood, the frame of the armchair exudes a sense of strength and durability, while the wicker seating offers a comfortable and relaxing experience. The eight spindles that make up the lower part of the frame provide a sense of balance and stability to the overall structure of the chair.
One of the most striking features of this armchair is the use of black round accents that are positioned on the legs. These accents not only add an element of visual interest to the design but also serve to reinforce the legs and enhance their overall strength. Over time, the armchair has acquired a beautiful patina that adds to its charm and character. The patina is a testament to the quality of the materials used in its construction, as well as to the exceptional level of craftsmanship that went into its creation.
Condition
The chair has some traces of usage such as scuffs and tiny marks but overall remains a very well-balanced piece with a striking appearance.
