The name Mario Ceroli has almost mythical proportions in the world of furniture design today. He is a far-reaching and one of the rare Italian artists who can be regarded as a “school” of his own. Writer Duccio Trombadori describes him as someone who instinctively knows how to overcome the embalmed boundaries of aesthetic movements and conventions. And that is why Ceroli is rightly attributed the title of maestro. In addition to breathtaking works of art in public spaces such as his “Vitruvian Man” in Vinci (Florence) and projects for governments such as the Ministry of the Interior in Rome, furniture is an important cornerstone of his oeuvre. This floor lamp named “Il Triangolo” is part of a series of lamps that he designed in the 1970s.
Design
As with almost all his works, the material of choice here is also pine. The round base consists of two layers from which the dazzling spiral emerges. About sixty triangular elements are rotated slightly further apart and threaded onto a brass rod. It is a fairly simple concept but the dynamic effect that arises from it is of a great poetic class. It creates an abstraction of a dancing human figure and you can imagine what that does in an interior. In addition to the design, a beautiful patina has developed over the years that is somewhat lighter at the bottom of the foot and gradually becomes darker towards the top. After switching on the lamp, the light sweeps over the wood and gives the structure a phenomenal appeal.
Condition
The condition of the lamp is good and has signs of use such as scratches and imperfections.
